After many years of working hard producing her television shows and running her television production company Debbie found herself looking for something ‘more’. She had first visited Italy while filming one of her TV shows which sparked the dream of one day owning a place there. The dream soon grew legs as she and her husband embarked on the long search for a home. They travelled to the north of this beautiful country, they explored Sicily, stunning Puglia, the east coast and the west but they kept returning to Tuscany. It was Southern Tuscany that they fell in love with and when they first discovered this region in the district of Siena they immediately and instinctively knew it was a special place. A peaceful place, a historic place, a place of re-birth. LA DOLCE VITA, the sweet life. As Debbie fell deeper and deeper in love with Tuscany’s beauty and charm, she had the idea of sharing its transformative powers with other women. While the search for the perfect property continued Debbie began a series of exclusive Getaways for groups of women in a rental villa. It was an overnight success and soon they found their own perfect property to host these retreats. It took nearly four years to renovate the rundown estate into a luxury boutique hotel.

In the heart of the rolling hills of Tuscany, near the famous medieval towns of Montepulciano and Pienza, stands their historic villa nestled amongst organic olive groves, lavender fields, vineyards and orchards. It is there, in the seclusion and privacy of this idyllic setting, where monastery bells, sheep and the ladies’ laughter are the only sounds, that the retreats take place. For Debbie and Hans, this renovation was a labour of love. The beautifully restored property houses 14 suites, most with their own private gardens, 2 courtyards with ancient pommegranate trees, an infinity pool and numerous places where guests can have quiet moments or long, happy meals under the Tuscan sun or stars.

The idea of the retreats was not to run a typical hotel but a place where a group can come together for an incredible experience. Not your usual ‘tour’ of Tuscany, but more of the backroads, meeting Debbie’s friends who have wonderful restaurants and wineries and biking with Debbie through one of the worlds most incredible landscapes. Debbie wished to invite women from all backgrounds, ages and countries. Whether they find themselves at a crossroads in their lives, are about to turn the page of a new chapter, or are perfectly content right where they are – these weeks offer a uniquely rewarding journey in classic Travis style.
